You can call the airlines directly, but being that you are on a PC, there are probably a lot of websites that you can also search and book via the web. when i need to fly, i usually go onto Travelocity or Expedia to see what airlines fly to that area and what the general costs are. This will give you a good overview. Keep in mind that there are a lot of NEW FEES that didn't exist before. Therefore pack light and if you need to read up on any additional costs, simply log onto the airline site to read more about what is restricted and what is not. General information: - stick with a national airlines - delta, american, etc should all be fine. keep in mind that depending on where their 'hub" is (main offices) is when you might need to take connecting flights, so this should be a factor also - try to keep the connections to a bare minimum. - clear plastic quart sized toiletries. Everything has to fit in this bag. if not, check your luggage (remember, there are costs associated with this now). - times of travel, this will help you narrow down your airline choices also. i'm assuming that either you will drive there or your friend will pick you up - try to estimate the time of when you should arrive. generally the later the flight (or 1st flight) can be cheaper than others, but you will be able to compare if you go on the sites i listed above. relax, the most difficult part is the take-off due to all the noise -- just lay back and then take in the sights, it's pretty cool. if you are old enough to have ONE beer -- not more -- before the flight, this might help also in just calming your nerves (remember, drink too much and ANY airlines can kick you off the plane). good luck

I always check the website of the airport I'm departing from to see which airlines have terminals there. Next I go to the web site of particular airlines and plug in the dates of my flight. It will then calculate the cost of a tkt. Also you can see the times of each flight and how many stops/layover times and make your decision based on that information. I haven't found sites like Expedia,Orbit, etc to be much cheaper than booking directly with the airline. To actually book the flight you will need a debit or credit card. Only takes a short few minutes to book the actual flight. Takes me longer to pick a flight and a seat than to purchase the tkt.

If you will tell us where you will be flying from, I can give you more help. Otherwise, you might want to go to a travel agent for this first flight. They may charge a small booking fee, but it would be well worth it to get good advice. Booking online can be tricky if you don't know much about flying.

NO, as long as you stay in the secured area....if you leave the airport, or go through the gate exit area, where you would go to exit the airport, you will have to go back through. You will, however, have to show your boarding pass again, and depending on the security level, may have to show ID.

You only need to go through security again if you leave the "secure area". Simply to change planes, you stay in the secure area and don't have to go through security again -- just go to the gate for the second flight.

I've never been through Memphis, but according to the Memphis Airport website, you do not need to clear security again as long as you stay airside and use the concourse connecting walkways if you need to change concourses: http://www.mscaa.com/?q=passenger/connections
