Flights to Negril Jamaica

Flights to Negril Jamaica?
Are there any direct flights to Negril from the states? I am flying out of Memphis. Am I going to have to fly into Montego Bay and then get on a shuttle bus to Negril? If so how do I do this. Do I just ask around the airport after landing or make reservations prior to flying in? Also are there any river trips around Negril? I have heard so many mixed things about Jamaica. Can someone settle it. Is it safe? Why do people say Jamaica sucks?

From Montego Bay there are short flights to Negril. Small plane lands on a small landing strip that you can look at via google earth. See link for info. Take the bus and start your party early is our advice. My bet is your bus is part of the package you bought. Do not want to ride a bus a taxi will cost about $60.00 USD for two ppl. I love yahoo search.... Jamaica is safe in places and not in others. You and all of us travelers need to go with open eyes and know we are RICH and there are people there that will steal from us if you give them the chance. Base out of a good resort, do not just wanter around with your rings and fancy watches and a big wallet or purse. The bus ride to Negril will give you an eye full of the hard life a lot of Jamaicans live. When you go, take school supplies. The better the kids learn the faster this will change. I have had long talks with Jamaicans there over the years and love the place. I am however well aware that I am a target and seen as The RIch One when out and about with my local friends.

We flew from Miami to Montego Bay, and our resort provided a shuttle from the airport to Negril at no extra cost. Are you staying at a resort? I would check with them first. If not, I would try to make an arrangement ahead of time. Check the Jamaica board on www.tripadvisor.com to find other people's recommendations for tour companies and even specific drivers. I didn't feel unsafe there at all. Everyone was super friendly and welcoming. Some of the vendors on the beach were a little too persistent, but that is their job. I wouldn't walk around flashing $100 bills or anything, just use common sense like you would anywhere else. I think on the US State department website (or something similar, I think you can find it if you google), there is a list of neighborhoods in a few cities that are recommended to avoid. I though the only thing that sucked about Jamaica was having to leave after only a week. :o)

If you plan on visiting Negril you will land at the airport in Montego Bay and yes you will take either a shuttle bus arranged by your resort or hotel, or you may need to or opt to take a taxi from the airport to Negril. It is an hour and a half drive to Negril from MoBay. If it's your first time to JA is suggest staying somewhere that provides you transportation to and from your hotel/resort. It is sometimes difficult for first timers to haggle with taxi drivers in JA if your not familiar with wha gwaan there. Once you land at the airport you will be approached by individuals who claim to be taxi drivers, however, if they do not have a red licence plate and have a JUTA (Jamaica Union of Travelers Association) sticker in the window they are NOT licensed taxi drivers and should be avoided. Like I said, to avoid any sort of awkward situation, just arrange a ride through your hotel/resort. Is Jamaica safe? Yes and No. Situations can arise anywhere you travel in the world if you are not aware of how things operate in any given city. If you plan on being in Negril then you have very little to worry about. Some areas of Jamaica have become increasingly hostile for many different reasons but as a tourist, the most you should be concerned with is being caught in compromising situations that arise from stupidty and little else. I have been traveling to the island for many many years and will continue to do so. I have made many dear, trustworthy friends on the island. That being said, people may say things like 'Jamaica sucks' or 'all I did was get hustled and asked for money' and so on. Look, times are hard for Jamaicans and they will do what they need to do to survive and provide for their families which includes peddling items or services, including drugs. To enjoy JA you will need an open mind and a warm heart but do not trust everyone you meet, just as in any other major city. Dont flash a bunch of cash around or wear expensive clothes/jewelry/shoes etc..you are not impressing anybody trust me. Also, get familiar with the exchange rate of the JA$ and convert your money at a cambio or currency exchange. Arrange tours and the like through your resort/hotel and take in as much Jamaican culture and cuisine as possible. If you're wondering about things to do in Negril its a simple google search away. Any other questions feel free to e-mail me personally. ONE LOVE!!

Northwest might have some deals because Memphis is a hub for them and since Los Angeles is a big city.

http://www.bookingbuddy.com because it will check all airlines on this route, as well as consolidators and and discounters which are sometimes cheaper for cross-country flights, all in 1 go so you don't have to keep searching over and over.

math problem plz help?
Taylor Durtschi and Taylor Young flew to Memphis last weekend. The distance between Salt Lake City and Memphils is approximately 1250miles. The non-stop flight took approximately four and a half hour(in the air). What was the average speed of their plane? Round answer to the nearest whole number.

278 mph

1250 miles divided by 4.5 hours is 278 miles per hour. Actually it's 277.7777 but round up to 278.

Anyone Flown NWA recently

Anyone Flown NWA recently?
Recently I was on Northwest Airlines from Chicago to New Orleans. The first flight was delayed because the flaps on the plane were stuck down... 2 Hours later finally got to leave chicago. Then when i switched planes in Memphis I noticed that the plane appeared to be very old. The seats were obviously worn out to the point where the stitching was coming out. The windows looked to be scratched very badly and the plane was filthy dirty. On the way back to Chicago my flight was delayed because of an "equipment problem that was not disclosed". Now i am aware that Northwest Airlines is having trouble financially but these planes are not SAFE!!! These flights were on DC9 and CRJ equipment. Northwest really needs to retire the antique DC9 aircraft.

NWA should stand for NWA should stand for ,'No Where Airlines'.On a resent flight they sat me next to aguy who smelled like he had an accident in his pants. I noticed that there were quite a few empty seats, so I moved to one of them. The flight attendant saw me move, and told me that was not allowed, and that I would stay in my assigned seat. I tried to as tactfully as I could, why I moved. I even asked if there was room in 1st class, and I would pay the difference. Sorry, no can do. In the meanwhile the passengers sitting in front and back of the smelly passenger, started to gripe. We said move us, or move him. We were told to go back to our seats, or she would call the captain. We told her fine! call him. She called him on the phone and talked for about five minutes and turned red (with anger) The captain told her to reassign our seats and just change our seat numbers on the flight manifest. If looks could kill, I would have been dead. .

How do you know these airplanes are unsafe? Do you have a powerplant and airframe license? You've got pukeing passengers, destructive vandal teens, and people who whine, complain and moan about everything- example- they over eat, so they blame the airlines when their size 50 butt won't fit in a standard 190 pound persons seat. Theres no excuse for dirty, however this is the summertime, every airplane that can be made safely to fly IS flying and I promise between August 31st, and November 15th, that airplane will be cleaned- usually professionally by a 3rd party vendor contractor.
