If I plan to fly from Dallas TX to Memphis TN in Feb 11, how much would i need for the flight?
I actualy live in Plano, (but i was assuming that the nearest airport is in Dallas?) I want to visit my fiance, in Feb. and Im not firmiliar with traveling by flight. can anyone assist me? Round trip btw..

Why does it cost twice more to fly from A to B than from A to C even though I have a layover in B
Why does it cost twice more to fly from A to B than from A to C even though I have a layover in B?
I want to fly from Grand Rapids, MI to Orlando, FL. The flight has a layover in Memphis. The flight coast $224. But, if I want to fly from GRR to Memphis ONLY, it cost $504. Why is that?

Orlando is a city where lots of leisure travelers fly to. Leisure travelers are more price sensitive. Also Orlando has a lot of discount airlines flying there. Memphis is controlled by Delta and does not have many discount airlines there. Because of that, ticket prices are higher.

a person flying on Continental Airlines is going to Memphis TN. the flight goes from Manila to Guam, Change planes in Guyam them to Honolulu, the to Dallas, change planes in Dallas. Where would they go through US Customs, Guam ? Honolulo ? or Dallas

That is the same route I took from Vietnam in 68 PAN AM Airline. Re fuel in Guam then, Custom inspection was in Honolulu and my final destination is San Francisco, CA.

Depends as they might share flight codes with other airlines ie part of the flight is with Malaysian. If at any stage they have to pick up their luggage before their final destination then they will have to go through Customs. Check with Airline for the correct information

Guam is already part of the US (even though not part of the mainland and so far away from it) so that's where will most likely have to go through customs. My experience though is that I haven't been to Guam yet, I have flew to the US via Hawaii and we went through customs in Honolulu, the flight from Hawaii to the US Mainland is of course a domestic flight, so no need to go through customs.

Your body absorbs a lot of radiation in high altitude. Dipping down to land again and again has several bonuses. You do not absorb nearly as much radiation and you get to get off the plane and stretch your legs- quite a bit. I bought and mailed some postcards in Guam (not much else to do there- no wifi). I have flown direct before, Manila- LAX- and my feet swelled quite a bit sitting for 16 hours. I kind of like the multiple stops. You get a little view of Hawaii when you land there- as you go completely out of the airport- then re-enter for boarding security checks again. It isn't a bad deal. Continental has better customer service than American- for sure. I am going to opt for multiple stops for my next trip- April.

17- this is a supersonic concorde, during take off , first row passengers not allowed to talk rude to their seat mate... there maybe kids in last row...!. 18- during take off no kids allowed in co pilots seat. 19- in emergency cases flight attendance plz grab life jackets in compartments above passengers heads. 20- if we land an emergency landing in the desert..plz dont take pics of the pyramids and dont pay the camel owners more than 2$ a ride... 21- we are entering rough turbulence plz UNfasten seat belts so u can float freely without any stomach pressure..(not the appropriate time for gas) !! 22- during landing NO hostesses alowed on pilots lap. 23- after complete stop and opening of doors plz stand in cue then exit the plane then desend steps slowly then enter tubes in one line then take off oxygen masks...thank you.

I'll have to keep this list as laughs for the next time i go flying through the skies. People who don't believe in GOD has never been in an airplane when an engine is starting to have trouble. lol I have and it's not a experience i ever wish to repeat.

A friend of mine had this experience. The old Stapleton airport in Denver was a hard place to land because of the winds in the mountains. My friend said that when landing there, in bad weather, the plane hit the ground and bounced back in the to come down hard again. When the plane was on the ground and taxing to the terminal the pilot came on with this comment "Ladies and gentlemen we have just landed at Denver's Stapleton airport, twice."

Real flight announcements?
Occasionally, airline attendants make an effort to make the "in-flight safety lecture" and their other announcements a bit more entertaining. Here are some real examples that have been heard or reported: "There may be 50 ways to leave your lover, but there are only 4 ways out of this airplane..." Pilot - "Folks, we have reached our cruising altitude now, so I am going to switch the seat belt sign off. Feel free to move about as you wish, but please stay inside the plane till we land ... it's a bit cold outside, and if you walk on the wings it affects the flight pattern." And, after landing: "Thank you for flying Delta Business Express. We hope you enjoyed giving us the business as much as we enjoyed taking you for a ride." As the plane landed and was coming to a stop at Washington National, a lone voice comes over the loudspeaker: "Whoa, big fella. WHOA!" After a particularly rough landing during thunderstorms in Memphis, a flight attendant on a Northwest flight announced: "Please take care when opening the overhead compartments because, after a landing like that, sure as Hell everything has shifted." Is 30 minutes enough time to catch a connecting flight?
I dont travel often so I don't know. What do you think? The airport is Memphis, TN (MEM). The one flight arrives at 7:43am and the other flight leaves at 8:11am.

Not really, most airlines close their gates 20 minutes before departure, and unless the gate of your first arriving flight is right near your connecting flights gate, you probably won't make it. If your 1st flight is just a few minutes late as many are, you don't have a chance. One hour between flights is probably the minimum amount of time you should leave yourself for connecting flights.

J, here is the deal on this. If this is a connection on the same airline, then it probably will be OK, as there is not a long walk between the two aircraft, and you will be checked in on both aircraft at your origin. The airline will know that you are on-board the inbound aircraft. If this schedule popped up when you checked availability, then it will be OK. You will just have to hustle to change aircraft. In words of one syllable - No. Most airlines expect you to check in at least 30 min before departure and boarding stats 20 min before departure.. You will be checked through, but depending on where you are seated on the first flight it can take at least 10 min to get off, even assuming that by some miracle the flight arrives on time. You then have to change gates. 30 minutes is too fine a margin.

I had this happen to me once. I had to run though the airport in order to catch my flight before the gate closes, which was in 10 minutes because the gate closes 20 minutes before the plane departs. I managed to make it in time...barely and that was because it was so late at night that there was almost no one in the terminal. I suggest you find another connecting flight that gives you more time to connect.

No. Memphis is not fun to navigate around. And since you're likely Flying northwest, you will probably be delayed.

The terminal at Memphis is really tiny, but even so that's pretty tight. Are the two flights on the same carrier? Bought as one itinerary? The reason I ask is that they won't sell you a ticket for a connection they don't think you can (normally) make. It would be bad business to do so. Both flights are on Delta and the airport website says all Delta flights are on Concourse A in Memphis Airport. So is 38 minutes enough time to connect in Memphis before going to Cincinnati? Flight date is a Thursday and gets into Memphis at 918 and leaves for Cincinnati at 9:56. Help Please!

why would travelocity.com sell an airfare if the seat chart indicates that there are no available seats left?
I'm looking for a flight from Memphis,tn to Jakarta, Indonesia in the middle of May. and I found a really cheap flight. but when I clicked on the seat chart, it showed that there were no available seats to be assigned. but I also notice this on the seat chart..."Not all flights have Seat Map technology." could this mean that there are available seats but they're just not showing it for this particular flight?

Travelocity buys flights and hotel rooms from companies in bulk for cheaper rates. That is how they are able to give them to you for a discount. If travelocity isn't able to sell the flights and hotel rooms that they have bought then they just eat it and make no money on it.

travelocity is just in it for the money. i hate that stupid gnome. They are so cheap they wont even pay a celebrity to go their commercials... just a stupid gnome.

I'm flying from Tulsa, Oklahoma to Jacksonville, Florida and I'm switching airports in Memphis, Tennessee. I'm scared of getting lost and not finding my flight in time. Is the Memphis, Tennessee airport hard to figure out and to find my way around?

Do I have to take the last part of my flight after connection
Do I have to take the last part of my flight after connection?
I am from Memphis and am looking to go to Omaha. It is about $800 cheaper to fly out of Little Rock instead. There is one stop to the flight and it connects IN MEMPHIS. When I am coming back from Omaha on my return flight can I just get off at memphis and not take the last part of the trip? I am not checking baggage.

Cheapest flight ticket !!!?
I am looking for a cheapest flight ticket to Memphis, Tennessee. I want an airline names or websites not a search link like expedia, cheaptickets, bookingbuddy, etc. Please be specific. Southwest does have a flight to Memphis. The closest is Nashville, in which is three hours drive away. We'll be leaving from LAX either 13 or 14 of August. The tickets get more expensive some because of the Elvis Week. I booked a ticket with Northwest last year for only $324 (tax included) per person. Now it's like $630 per person. Is there something cheap like that available now? I really need your help !

ok, I'm flying for the first time as an adult (the first time since like, 1998) and I am taking one flight from Dayton, Ohio to Atlanta, Georgia, then transfering, after a layout to a flight to Memphis, Tn. My question is: Do I need to get my own luggage after I land in Atlanta and re-check it in for the flight to Memphis? It is the same carrier and I booked as one trip, with a connection. Thanks in advance. Oh, and any other travel tips would be great, such as the amounts of liquids permitted through security, etc. For the answerer who said she could give me more info, it isn't Delta, its AirTran, but here is the info. As far as your luggage is concerned, generally your luggage will make it to your destination before you do. You DO NOT pick up your luggage you just go directly to your connecting flight. I would suggest bringing only a few items with you, you can carry one hand held purse (lap top) and one carry on luggage. I would recommend bringing personal items and one small set of clothes just in case something were to happen in ATL and you have to overnight there. I work for Comair the Delta Connection and we usually do the DAY-ATL-MEM connections. I know how the market in ATL can be especially with the past few days worth of weather in the Northeast. What people don't realize is that your pilots could reach ATL and potentially time-out before they can continue onto the next leg of the flight. ATL is a huge airport, call to see if you can find out what gate you are going to land in and what gate you'll be going out of so that you can give yourself enough time. If you know the flight numbers I can give you that information. Good luck and enjoy your trip! MEM is an amazing place to visit!

I 10 miles from Memphis, Tn and want to travel to Seattle. I am about 120 from Little Rock, Ar and a flight from Seattle is much cheaper from Little Rock. I have found a flight that originates from Little Rock, connects in Memphis then on to Seattle. Can I just board in Memphis? Same thing on return-flight stops in Memphis then on to Little Rock? Sure would be nice if I could.

yes. most of the time if a flight is gonna cut it close they will wait for the flight. Dont count on time to eat or go to the bathroom etc. but if the flight is on time you will have enough time. It will also make your travel day go by very quickly :)

I've only been to the airport twice and that was when I visited my best friend who moved to Memphis. If I remember correctly, I do not think the airport is HUGE. It is large but not huge like Charlotte International Airport(ugh I hate this airport). 35 minutes is not a lot of time for a person to catch their connection in any situation but it can be done, especially if your flight is not delayed. My suggestion would be to see if you can look at the terminal map of the Memphis International Airport so you can see exactly where you would need to go. If you are on time though, I think you will be alright.

You will be cutting it very close. Here's what you should do: before your flight, print out a picture, online, of the Memphis International Airport, that way you will know your way around when you arrive there. If you don't get lost, then you will definately make it on time! But print out that picture, know where your going, and you wont have any issues!

yes. most of the time if a flight is gonna cut it close they will wait for the flight. Dont count on time to eat or go to the bathroom etc. but if the flight is on time you will have enough time. It will also make your travel day go by very quickly :)

I've only been to the airport twice and that was when I visited my best friend who moved to Memphis. If I remember correctly, I do not think the airport is HUGE. It is large but not huge like Charlotte International Airport(ugh I hate this airport). 35 minutes is not a lot of time for a person to catch their connection in any situation but it can be done, especially if your flight is not delayed. My suggestion would be to see if you can look at the terminal map of the Memphis International Airport so you can see exactly where you would need to go. If you are on time though, I think you will be alright.

Fill out on-line application. (since all airlines now start the process this way) -3. Wait for the series of interviews most airlines have at least two. -4. Make sure mom has a valid passport, *can lift 50-70lbs over her head, *make sure all medications she is taking won't interfere with her job. Get on the Airlines site and check the schedule. There are too many factors to be able to quote an accurate time without knowing what flight you are on.

If you fly from Memphis, TN to San Diego, CA, on a commercial airline, there might not be any direct flights.. instead, you might have to make one stopover, which adds to your overall travel time. Looking at orbitz, i found that taking Northwest Airlines from Memphis to San Diego, via Minneapolis took about 6.5 to 9 hours. Using America West to fly through Phoenix (more direct) takes 5.3 hours. Flying American Airlines through Dallas takes about 6 hours. Going through Denver or Houston takes about 6 hours. Remember that your return trip from San Diego to Memphis might take less time, because of better air currents and the rotation of the earth, or just better connections. now, if you are chartering a direct jet flight between memphis and san diego, expect it to take less than the times listed.

The 3 Delta flights on Monday, the 18th January, 2010 between Memphis (MEM) and Omaha (OMA) were marketed as codeshare flights by Delta, and actually operated by Pinnacle Airlines. Delta flight DL 7071 at 8:45am was in fact Pinnacle 9E4053. Delta flight DL 7056 at 2:35pm was in fact Pinnacle 9E3978 Delta flight DL 2701 at 6:40pm was in fact Pinnacle 9E3792

try american airlines, especially if u can connect in dallas. the competition from southwest in dallas forces american to give dirt cheap prices if u go through Dallas since both have huge operations there. northwest operates a hub in memphis, but they could be more expensive as they control alot of the traffic...southwest if u can go nonstop, otherwise, southwest gets expensive. or try to fly to nashville.

I don't think there is a guarantee on finding lowest rate. I have found rates, went to make reservations and in the mean time the rates went up. I got the cheapest rates I could find through Sam's Club. They have a travel agency.

I would definitely advise you to book for flights with either Expedia.com http://expedia.com/ or Travelocity http://travelocity.com/. They have the cheapest fares around - and the service is user friendly, and you have many choices of flights, especially if the route is popular. Bon Voyage! P.S. A high possibly that fares would be cheap on Northwest Airlines, but still consult.

Too many trips with too many problems, including rude flight attendants. I'll pay more just to not fly with them!

Fortunately Southwest DOES NOT fly to Atlanta. You need to stick with Delta or Air Tran for the cheapest fares to Atlanta. Atlanta is the main HQ for Delta and a hub for Air Tran and are the two main competitors in and out of the city. Northwest would be my 3rd choice since MEM is their hub. **Southwest is not the cheapest airline, Ive found better fares on major airlines with better routes and non-stop flights. Plus you arent looking at a cattle call and old 737 fleets**

About 2 and half hours tops... There will be one flight attendant and the pilot and co-pilot. No worries, you'll be just fine. Just sit down and have a magazine handy and after takeoff, just take a brief nap before you land...

It's only one-hour flying time from Memphis, Tennessee (MEM) to Harrison, Arkansas (HRO). SeaPort Airlines (IATA Code: K5) will fly 3 times daily (beginning October 26th) Memphis to Harrison. The airline has a fleet of 10 Pilatus PC-12 aircraft, all configured with 9 passenger seats. The aircraft is powered by a single Pratt & Whitney Canada turboprop engine. (Pratt & Whitney Canada turboprop engines are very very reliable). There may onboard snack service (coffee & soft drinks, cookies, peanuts, etc.). However, for such a short flight with an aircraft carrying less than 40 passengers, there may or may not be an onboard flight attendant. (I live in Canada, and airlines up here are required to have at least one flight attendant for each 40 passengers.) If there is no flight attendant, perhaps the pilot or the passenger agent at the air terminal will be responsible for a pre-flight safety briefing for the passengers before take-off. Small aircraft of that size are perfectly safe. They usually fly at lower altitudes than larger jets, so you may see more scenery. Enjoy the ride and don't worry. The flight will be over before you know it.

there was a play a few days ago when kobe threw it to him 8 feet from the basket after driving through traffic. he took two steps towards the basket, jumped in the air still not close to the rim and threw it back to kobe despite kobe being surrounded by 3 people. horrible basketball player.

He literally can't catch anything because he has the hands of someone who is 5'11" (no joke this is what i read somewhere). But you can argue that aaron brooks can catch a basketball. Kwame, however, is very uncoordinated and has little to no hand eye coordination, as evident by in inability to even dunk a basketball. As a GM on a basketball team, you never NEVER draft some one with a first overall pick if there is anything physically wrong with their game, i.e. ridiculously small hands.

I actually feel sorry for Kwame. He's one of the biggest bust in NBA history. It's all Jordan's fault, he should have never drafted him with the number 1 overall draft pick. Now the man is nothing but a joke.

it was a bad desicion to bring him out of college, all players hould have the experience of college to be ready for nba. Most people in highschool bball are good but not pros like nba players. Once he got to the nba the players were much tougher and harder then he expected. Kobe and lebron and them are good in the nba becuz they are deicated and love the sport, they can handle it. But kwame just wants to be a rich nba player who lacks the effort.

Cheap flight from Memphis to Guadalajara?
Looking for a cheap flight to Guadalajara for some time in the next month. From what I've found, it looks like it's cheaper to fly to Europe. Can you help?

haha. it is. flights to mexico are in high demand. TOo bad theres no direct flight from Memphis to GDL. you'll have to fly from MEM to Dallas, and from Dallas to GDL. hey, im going to mexico from LOs Angeles to Guadalajara this december, and i bought my ticket in july, i paid $573.00 USD. so expect to spend $800-1000 round trip, per person.

I'm traveling to Orlando for a national convention. I need to depart Thursday, July 27 and arrive there by 2pm and I need to depart on Monday the 31st sometime around 4pm or after. How can I find the cheapest flight? Which airlines are cheaper than others? Are there any online discounts, coupons, etc? Any advice appreciated.
