My neighbor is a drug dealer, what should I do?
I live in a very nice urban neighborhood in the heart of a major city. All the houses in my neighborhood are 1940's bungalows. The community was originally all white, however white flight took effect in the mid 70's and now the community is mostly African American, however since earlier this century, the community has gone through gentrification and now there are a number of white residents that have moved into the neighborhood. The neighborhood is desirable because of it's proximity to Downtown and that residents over the decades has kept the community up. I moved into the neighborhood three years ago and have not experience or observed or heard of any crime at all. On my street, most of the residents are retire senior citizens that are home all day and serve as my "security system" because they know everybody and seeks out strangers. However on of my elderly neighbors has a great grandson that I am at least 99% sure that sells drugs. He is about 21, does not work, he is home all the time and has no car. I grew up in the rough side of Memphis, Tennessee, so I know the signs of a drug dealer. I see random cars appear, he come out of his basement unit of his great grandmother's house, either gets in the car or goes to the driver window, spend about 2-3 minutes and goes back inside. I have seen this behavior for the past three years. He has a thug appearance, but seems harmless, he is handsome, I notice that he has a young son and a girlfriend that visits frequently. My fear is that one day, a drug deal with go bad and something can happen to his great grandmother, son, or even me since I live directly across the street. I really don't want to get involved. He has never bothered me. I really have no concrete proof, but I am not naive, I lived with drug dealers (my uncle and sister's ex) before and lived amongst others in my neighborhood in Memphis, so I know all the signs, I could become a DEA agent. What do you think I should do? First of all, I am not buying in drugs, secondly, the police would want proof, if I cannot provide proof, they cannot do anything. But I honestly don't think the implications would be I would be killed, that is being dramatic. Lastly, some of you people need to exercise your reading skills. if you're suspicious, tell the police and ask them to keep an eye on them! if it's not bothering you then why care haha. If you no when the deals usually happen (ex: mondays around 7:30) let the police no that and maybe an undercover can stay by and check it out... thats your best bet! OF COURSE you dont want anyone getting hurt.

You should call the police and report it without giving your name, just say you have witnessed strange things and describe what you just said...except I would leave out the completely unnecessary description of the neighborhood and its racial makeup.

1) Purchase some drugs 2) Don't do anything, it's better to mind your own business. Even if there is a witness protection program, he'll see your face and then names won't help. Furthermore, even if he goes to prison, he is still capable of sending someone else to harm you (god forbid). By the way, your question is excessively long.

call the Narcotics Unit of Police department, and simply state that you have observed suspicious activity. Start taking down license plate numbers of cars driven by persons you suspect are purchasing drugs. good luck. Police need community involvement to combat crime. While recreational drug use in and of itself is harmless, drug profits are used to finance criminal enterprises, and eventually violence is a result.

First off, stop using stereotype shit about "thug" and races etc... that's a load of crap, anyone can be a damn drug dealer! now on to the real subject. If he isnt a high time drug dealer (a big boy) then cops will most likely not give a damn about him. They will use him as bait to get to his sources. Once this happens, he will want to find out who snitched on him, and which case, I wouldn't want to be around. nonetheless, you dont want it to continue on for the safety of yourself and your neighbors. If you're brave enough, I would talk to the cops and somehow get them to send and undercover in to buy drugs. I live next to a drug dealer, and the only reason I went to the cops was because they were smoking their weed when they had a little 3 year old and a 6 month old in the house with them... which I am very very against. The cops didnt do shit though. Took the guy to jail for 2 days, hes back out... smoking weed again with his kids... If you honestly fear for your safety then tell the cops......otherwise just leave it alone.
